QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY
Ms. Fogel has over four years of experience in the areas of plant ecology, biogeography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and graphic design. Ms. Fogel is skilled in the field identification of native and non-native flora of the region. Her experience includes the collection of vegetation data for reclamation and baseline studies at surface coal mines in Arizona, Colorado, Montana and Wyoming. Ms. Fogel has experience in quantitative field vegetation studies, wetland surveying, database management, GIS, and navigation by GPS, aerial photos, topographic maps and compass. Ms. Fogel’s experience as a Graphic Artist is utilized in developing figures for publication and educational materials as well as map template design and cartography.
RECLAMATION, VEGETATION BASELINE & MONITORING EXPERIENCE
Ms. Fogel’s technical field experience has included collecting vegetation cover, biomass, woody plant density and species diversity data for reclamation sites in Arizona, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. Ms. Fogel has also collected vegetation data to assist in the classification and inventory of cultural plants on properties of mineral interest in the Cortez Mountains of NV. In her position as a staff ecologist, Ms. Fogel has prepared data, maps and figures to be included in reports for submission to clients and regulatory agencies.
WETLAND EXPERIENCE
Ms. Fogel has supported ESCO staff in performing general wetland vegetation surveys and wetland delineations in Wyoming. Ms. Fogel participated in the process of determining wetland site characteristics and used a Trimble GPS to delineate wetland boundaries in accordance with the 1987 U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wetlands Delineation Manual (including several Interim Regional Supplements).
GIS AND COMPUTER SKILLS
Ms. Fogel is skilled in the use of ArcGIS 9.3, and is familiar with AutoDesk Map 3D (AutoCAD). She has experience creating random sample designs, field maps and digitizing. Ms. Fogel also has experience using MS Access to create and edit databases and perform queries of vegetation data.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
Ms. Fogel has volunteered in with Wildland’’s Restoration Volunteers (WRV) to collect native plant seed for use in restoration projects (2009), worked as a restoration volunteer with Boulder Parks and Open Space (2007) and served as a science educator for Super Science Saturday at NCAR for the Wild Bear Center for Nature Discovery (2006). Ms. Fogel is also currently working as a research assistant in support of a Colorado State University horticulture Masters degree candidate.
